Story Behind the Illustration
Ms. Amster-Young met Ron Barrett while building her award-winning agency Amster-Young Public Relations. His illustrations caught Karen’s eye and they worked together on a number of projects, including an advertisement for her eponymous agency which remains timeless to this day. He is the illustrator of the classic picture book, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Years after they worked together his book became the beloved film from Sony Pictures Animation. Among his many accomplishments, he has illustrated and authored 31 books for children and adults. Ron’s illustrations have been exhibited twice at The Louvre’s Museé des Arts Décoratifs. Since 1991, Ron’s work has appeared frequently in The New York Times. In 2018 he made his debut as an illustrator for The New Yorker.
